African American Documentary Resources
In the mid-1990s, UVA Press made available two guides to documentary resources in African American history for Virginia and North Carolina. These guides have not been updated, so we present them as legacy open-access resources.
Afro-American Sources in Virginia: A Guide to Manuscripts was edited by Michael Plunkett under the auspices of the Carter G. Woodson Institute. The Guide to African-American Documentary Resources in North Carolina was edited by Timothy D. Pyatt and sponsored by the North Carolina African American Archives Group.
